The company received this recognition during the commemoration of the 10th Anniversary of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.<\/li>\n<li>Grupo Siro was recognised at the first international edition of the awards, presented by the S\u00e3o Paulo State Secretariat for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.<\/li>\n<li>Only two Spanish companies received this recognition: Grupo Siro and ILUNION.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Madrid, 2 December 2016 \u2013 Today, on the occasion of the 10th Anniversary of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, the Global Recognition event \u2018Good Practices for Employees with Disabilities\u2019 was hosted by the United Nations at its headquarters in New York. At this event, Grupo Siro received International Recognition as \u2018Best Company for Disabled Employees\u2019 for its Sustainable Social Commitment to the Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities.<br \/>\nThe award, presented by the S\u00e3o Paulo State Secretary for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, was received by Juan Manuel Gonz\u00e1lez Serna, Chairman of Grupo Siro, on behalf of the company. He said: \u2018We have always been committed to business development with strong ties to People and Society. Our vision, our mission and our values are based on the fact that people are all different but that we all share a passion for what we do. There are no limits. Differences do not diminish us but rather bring diversity and enrich our lives\u2019.<br \/>\nThis was the first international edition of these awards, the goal being to raise the visibility and global profile of state-owned and private companies that have adopted and implemented inclusion policies for persons with disabilities as an example of best practice in the challenge to build an inclusive and sustainable society. Grupo Siro and Ilunion were the two Spanish companies that received recognition.<br \/>\nThe chairpersons of Grupo Siro were accompanied at the event by various representatives from the Government of Spain as part of the Permanent Mission of Spain to the United Nations, such as Florentino Sotomayor, Press and Communications Adviser; Valent\u00edn Due\u00f1as, Education Attach\u00e9 of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport; and Manuel Pablos L\u00f3pez, Counsellor at the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and Environmental Affairs. At the end of the event, Juan Manuel Gonz\u00e1lez Serna and Luc\u00eda Urb\u00e1n were received by the Permanent Representative of Spain to the United Nations, Rom\u00e1n Oyarzun Marchesi.<\/p>\n<h2>Integration of people at risk of social exclusion<\/h2>\n<p>Ever since Grupo Siro was established, it has been working with organisations and agencies to achieve the integration of people at risk of social exclusion into the labour market as part of its unwavering Sustainable Social Commitment. The first steps were taken in 1997, when it signed an agreement with Fundosa to facilitate the employment in the company of people with disabilities. At present, the group has three special employment centres and over 500 employees with disabilities, accounting for 14% of the workforce.<br \/>\nThe Chairman of Grupo Siro put it this way: \u2018Both my wife, Luc\u00eda Urb\u00e1n, and I are filled with both pride and emotion when we recall the path we began and have travelled together alongside all our employees; a path we have tried to make easier for those who most need it, especially those persons at risk of social exclusion. At Grupo Siro, we have always been committed to business development with strong ties to People and Society. Social commitment is one of our main watchwords as a family business and our main source of pride\u2019.<\/p>\n<h2>United for an inclusive and equal world<\/h2>\n<p>This international edition was supported by such organisations as ILO, UNDP, UN Global Compact and the Latin American Network of Non-Governmental Organisations of Persons with Disabilities and their Families (RIADIS). It was also supported by the State Secretaries for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities of various State governments. The United Nations headquarters became a meeting point for all the global players committed to promoting and highlighting the initiatives in place for the labour and social inclusion of people with disabilities.<br \/>\nThe ceremony preceded the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, which takes place tomorrow, 3 December. En \u00e9l, Grupo Siro recibe un Reconocimiento Internacional como \u201cMejor Compa\u00f1\u00eda para Trabajadores con Discapacidad\u201d por su Compromiso Social Sostenible al Servicio de la Integraci\u00f3n de Personas con Discapacidad.<\/p><p>El galard\u00f3n, otorgado por la Secretar\u00eda de Estado para los Derechos de las Personas con Discapacidad de Sao Paulo, se entrega a Juan Manuel Gonz\u00e1lez Serna, Presidente de Grupo Siro, en representaci\u00f3n de la compa\u00f1\u00eda. \u201cDesde siempre, hemos apostado por una trayectoria empresarial ligada a las Personas y a la Sociedad. Nuestra visi\u00f3n, nuestra misi\u00f3n, nuestros valores, parten de que todas las personas somos diferentes, pero todos tenemos en com\u00fan la pasi\u00f3n por lo que hacemos. Los l\u00edmites no existen. Las diferencias no restan, solo aportan y enriquecen\u201d, afirma Gonz\u00e1lez Serna.<\/p><p>Se trata de la primera edici\u00f3n internacional de estos galardones, con el objetivo de dar visibilidad y reconocimiento mundial a las empresas p\u00fablicas y privadas que han adoptado e implementado pol\u00edticas de inclusi\u00f3n de personas con discapacidad, como ejemplo de buenas pr\u00e1cticas en el reto de construir una sociedad inclusiva y sostenible. Grupo Siro e ILUNION han sido las empresas espa\u00f1olas distinguidas.<\/p><p>Los presidentes de Grupo Siro han estado arropados durante el evento por varios representantes del Gobierno espa\u00f1ol en Misi\u00f3n Permanente de Espa\u00f1a ante las Naciones Unidas, como Florentino Sotomayor, Consejero de Informaci\u00f3n y prensa; Valent\u00edn Due\u00f1as, Agregado de Educaci\u00f3n del Ministerio de Educaci\u00f3n, Cultura y Deporte; y Manuel Pablos L\u00f3pez, Consejero del Ministerio de Agricultura y Pesca, Alimentaci\u00f3n y Medioambiente. Al finalizar el acto, Juan Manuel Gonz\u00e1lez Serna y Luc\u00eda Urb\u00e1n han sido recibidos por el Embajador Representante Permanente de Espa\u00f1a en Nueva York, Rom\u00e1n Oyarzun Marchesi.<\/p><h2>Integraci\u00f3n de personas en riesgo de exclusi\u00f3n social<\/h2><p>Desde sus inicios Grupo Siro colabora con organizaciones y entidades para la inclusi\u00f3n laboral de personas en riesgo de exclusi\u00f3n social, en el marco de su inalterable Compromiso Social Sostenible. En 1997 dio los primeros pasos, con la firma de un acuerdo con Fundosa para facilitar la integraci\u00f3n de personas con discapacidad en la empresa. Actualmente, el Grupo cuenta con tres centros especiales de empleo y m\u00e1s de 500 colaboradores con discapacidad, lo que supone un 14% de la plantilla.<\/p><p>\u201cTanto a mi mujer, Luc\u00eda Urb\u00e1n, como a m\u00ed nos emociona recordar el camino que iniciamos y hemos recorrido juntos, con todos nuestros colaboradores, el cual hemos intentado allanar para quienes m\u00e1s lo necesitan, especialmente aquellas personas en riesgo de exclusi\u00f3n social. En Grupo Siro hemos apostado por una trayectoria empresarial ligada a las Personas y a la Sociedad. El compromiso social es una de nuestras principales banderas como empresa familiar y nuestro principal motivo de orgullo\u201d, ha declarado el presidente de Grupo Siro.<\/p><h2>Unidos por un mundo inclusivo e igualitario<\/h2><p>Esta edici\u00f3n internacional ha contado con la colaboraci\u00f3n de organizaciones como la OIT, PNUD, Pacto Mundial NNUU (Global Compact UN), y RIADIS; y el apoyo de las Secretar\u00edas de Estado para los Derechos de las Personas con Discapacidad de Gobiernos de varios Estados. La sede de Naciones Unidas se ha convertido en el punto de encuentro de todos los actores mundiales comprometidos con la promoci\u00f3n y puesta en valor de las iniciativas para la inclusi\u00f3n laboral y social de las personas con discapacidad.<\/p><p>La ceremonia ha precedido al D\u00eda Internacional de las Personas con Discapacidad, que se celebrar\u00e1 ma\u00f1ana, d\u00eda 3 de diciembre.
